HONOLULU, Hawai'i -- Washington freshman forward/center Jess McCormack was selected to the Waikiki Beach Marriott Classic All-Tournament Team that wrapped up in Honolulu, Sunday.
McCormack, a native of Auckland, New Zealand, averaged 15.0 points and 9.0 rebounds in the Huskies' three contests with Hawaii, Northern Arizona and UC Davis this past weekend. McCormack tallied her first collegiate double-double in UW's loss to UC Davis in the tournament finale on Sunday, recording season-highs in points (17) and rebounds (11). She nearly missed double-double in the Huskies win over Northern Arizona, Saturday, with 16 points and nine boards.
McCormack was joined on the all-tournament team by Laura Dinkins (Northern Arizona), Tanya Smith (Hawaii), Heather Bates (UC Davis) and Jessica Campbell (UC Davis), while Anna Harp of UC Davis was named tournament MVP. The Aggies won the tournament title as the only team to go 3-0 in the round-robin style event.
After a five-game season-opening road trip, Washington returns home to host the Husky Classic at Bank of America Arena, Nov. 23 and 25. Joining the Huskies in the four-team tournament field will be Idaho, Weber State and Arkansas State. UW will take on Idaho on Friday at 2 p.m., a game preceded by Weber State vs. Arkansas State at 12 p.m. Sunday's games will feature the consolation match-up at 12 p.m., followed by the championship game at 2 p.m.
