The Bruins are off to their best start since 1993-94, with victories in their first three games. Five players, including four freshmen, are averaging in double figures, led by senior forward Lindsey Pluimer (15.3 ppg). On Tuesday night against Cal Poly, the Bruins scored 107 points en route to a 24-point victory.
This is Tennessee's first visit to the UCLA campus since 1999. The Lady Vols are coached by Hall of Fame coach Pat Summitt, who has won seven NCAA titles in her career and is the all-time winningest coach in NCAA basketball history. Future No. 1 WNBA pick Candace Parker leads the Lady Vols, averaging 24.0 points and 9.3 rebounds per game. Parker won the Wooden Award and the Honda Award last season after averaging 19.6 points and 9.8 rebounds per game. She made history in 2006 when she became the first woman to dunk in an NCAA Tournament game and the first woman to dunk twice in a college game.
