Nov. 26, 2007
LOS ANGELES -- USC women's volleyball players Asia Kaczor (Wroclaw, Poland/College of Southern Idaho) and Taylor Carico (Manhattan Beach/Mira Costa HS) have been named to the 2007 All-Pac-10 Women's Volleyball Team as announced today by Pac-10 Commissioner Tom Hansen.
Kaczor earned All-Pac-10 honors for the second straight season while Carico earned her first All-Pac-10 honor after being the Pac-10 Freshman of the Year last season.
Kaczor leads the Trojans with 534 kills (4.99 kpg) and 615.5 points (5.75 kpg). She has been named the Pac-10 Conference Player of the Week three times this season as well as being named AVCA National Player of the Week after she registered 52 kills in two wins over No. 9 Cal and No. 3 Stanford at the Galen Center.
On Nov. 16 against No. 5 Washington, she set USC and Pac-10 records with 44 kills and 100 attempts in a five-game win over the Huskies. She is also the first Trojan in school history to record 500 kills in a season twice.
As the team's No. 1 setter, Carico continues to put up strong numbers similar to last year. She has 1,323 assists this season (12.60 apg) with 114 kills, 215 digs and a .353 hitting percentage. Her 1,323 assists put her in a tie for fifth place on USC's single-season list for assists and is already fifth on the all-time career list.
USC hosts first and second round action of the 2007 NCAA Women's Volleyball Tournament this weekend, Friday and Saturday (Nov. 30-Dec. 1).
