Former Stanford Swimmer Randall Bal Takes World Cup Trophy

The United States' Randall Bal, a former Stanford swimmer, won 21 backstroke titles for a complete sweep of the backstroke events during the World Cup circuit. Bal was first for the men with 186 points to earn the top prize of $100,000. Sweden's Stefan Nystrand, who set two world records during the circuit, was awarded $50,000 for his second-place tally of 101 points, while Brazil's Thiago Pereira was third place with 96 points to earn $30,000.
