Sun Devils Thump Florida Gulf Coast for Fourth Straight Win

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) -- Freshman James Harden scored a game-high 22 points as Arizona State routed Florida Gulf Coast 91-59 Wednesday night for its fourth consecutive victory.
Christian Polk and Ty Abbott each added 15 for the Sun Devils, who posted consecutive 30-plus point wins for the first time since December 1990. Arizona State beat Cal Poly 75-41 on Monday.
The Sun Devils (4-1) haven't lost since the season-opener against Illinois in the Maui Invitational and they improved to 5-0 all-time against Atlantic Sun Conference opponents.
Casey Wohlleb scored 17 points and Robert Quaintance added 16 for the Eagles (2-5), who are in their first season in Division 1.
Jeff Pendergraph scored seven points and Harden had five as Arizona State took a 20-3 lead in the opening 5:28.
Harden scored seven straight points and Polk added a pair of 3-pointers to key a 15-0 run and put the Sun Devils up 45-8 with 5:24 to go en route to a 54-26 halftime lead.
The 54 first-half points was the most by Arizona State since scoring 58 against USC on Feb. 13, 2003.
The Sun Devils, who led by as many as 43 in the second half, finished with 14 3-pointers -- their highest total since that 2003 game against the Trojans.
