Amajoyi And Macaluso Earn Sporting News Pac-10 All-Freshman Honors

Stanford, Calif. - Stanford freshmen linebackers Chike Amajoyi and Nick Macaluso have been named to the 2007 Pac-10 All-Freshman selected by the Sporting News. Both players were significant contributors to a Cardinal defense that was much improved in 2007 and heads into its final game versus California on December 1 ranked second among the NCAA and Pac-10 leaders in both tackles for loss (8.36 per game, #3 Pac-10/#6 NCAA) and sacks (3.27 per game, #2 Pac-10/#9 NCAA).
Amajoyi, a true freshman, has contributed 39 tackles, 9.0 tackles for loss, 4.0 sacks, a team-leading three fumble recoveries (#2T Pac-10), an interception and a forced fumble in the first 11 games of the season. He has started four of the team's last five contests.
Macaluso, a redshirt freshman, started six consecutive contests at middle linebacker from September 22 - October 27. He has made 23 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and 1.0 sack.
