Campbell 8th at Canadian National Championships

GUELPH, Ontario - Washington junior Anita Campbell finished eighth in the Canadian National Cross Country Championships on Saturday, running in snow and freezing temperatures at the University of Guelph.
Campbell, a native of Vanouver, B.C., just two weeks ago placed 20th at the NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind. to earn her first All-American honor. represented the Huskies well in the 7,000-meter Senior Women's National Championship, finishing in 24 minutes and 49 seconds. The course was covered in snow and the women endured 19-degree temperatures.
Six women will make the Canadian National Team which will compete first and foremost at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships in Edinburgh, Scotland on March 30, 2008. Should two finishers above Campbell choose not to participate Campbell will be next in line. She twice competed at the Junior World Cross Country Championships, in 2005 and 2006, placing 57th in 2006.
Carmen Douma took first-place at Saturday's National meet in 23:46.
