CONFERENCE WEEKLY NOTES
Once again, the Pac-10 has been plagued by injuries early in the season ... CALIFORNIA JR F/C Devanei Hampton, the 2007 Pac-10 Player of the Year, has been sidelined for the first eight games of the season, but could be back in the next couple of weeks ... Hampton had arthroscopic surgery on Nov. 9 to remove torn cartilage in her right knee and was expected to be out 4-6 weeks ... ARIZONA STATE has two of its top guards out with injuries right now in SR Reagan Pariseau and JR Danielle Orsillo ... Orsillo is expected to be out another couple of weeks with a bone bruise on her knee, while Pariseau is day-to-day with an ankle injury ... STANFORD has lost two players for the year, both of whom have suffered torn ACLs ... SO G Melanie Murphy saw action in five games, while SO F Michelle Harrison played in one game in 2007-08 ... USC also has two players sitting out the entire season with torn ACLs, including RS FR G Jacki Gemelos and FR G Stefanie Gilbreath ... WASHINGTON SR G Dominique Banks is redshirting the season, along with FR F/C Mackenzie Argens, due to stress fractures and a torn ACL, respectively.
PAC-10 PICKS UP THE PACE
The 2007-08 Pac-10 women's basketball season has gotten off to a fast start with 69 games in the book ... With three teams in the Top-25 rankings, along with three teams receiving votes at one point during the season, the Conference has amassed a 41-28 (.594) record through the first three weeks of play ... The mark is just behind last year's 43-26 (.623) record ... Further, the Pac-10 has picked up two wins over opponents in the Top-25, including Stanford's 60-58 defeat of then-No. 3/3 Rutgers, and California's 67-59 win over 23/18 Vanderbilt on Sunday.
There is a lot of new talent across the Pac-10 Conference as teams debut a handful of fresh faces ... JR posts Sybil Dosty and Lauren Lacey of Arizona State, both of whom are transfers, have been impressive in their first season in the desert ... Lacey has led the team in scoring in two of the last three Sun Devil games, while Dosty tied for the team lead with 16 points against Gonzaga ... FR F Kayla Pedersen has been solid on The Farm, averaging 11.9 ppg to rank 11th in the Pac-10 ... FR G/F Katelan Redmon of Washington is riding a five-game double-figure scoring streak to average 13.1 ppg, good enough to rank seventh in the league ... UCLA has been utilizing most of its freshman class as standout G Doreena Campbell (10.4 ppg) and F/C Regina Rogers (10.3 ppg) rank 19th and 20th respectively on the Pac-10 scoring charts ... OREGON STATE FR G Talisa Rhea has played in all six games for the Beavers, ranking ninth in the Pac-10 in scoring (12.5 ppg) and steals (2.00 spg) ... In fact, of the Top-20 players in the Pac-10 scoring category, seven players are new to the Conference and 14 did not finish the 2006-07 season ranked among the league's top leaders.
UCLA FR G Doreena Campbell has taken the court by storm, proving she is a force to reckon with ... Not only does the freshman rank second on the team in scoring, she is the only player in the Conference to rank among the leaders in scoring, rebounding and assists ... Campbell ranks 19th in the Pac-10 in scoring (10.4 ppg), is tied for 17th in rebounding (4.9 rpg) and is eighth in assists (3.29) ... However, even more impressive for the newcomer is that she leads the Pac-10 in assist to turnover ratio (2.88), having only committed eight turnovers all season ... Quite a feat considering she averages over 30 minutes per game (which also ranks 15th in the league).
Last Week: Did Not Play
This Week: Northern Arizona (12/6); @ Long Beach State (12/9)
Arizona returns to the court for two games this week, after having last week off ... The Wildcats have lost two games in a row, but will look to get back in the win column with a home contest against Northern Arizona, followed by a road trip to Long Beach State this week ... The Wildcats have struggled on the defensive end, giving up an average of 77.7 ppg, which ranks 10th in the Conference, however, in their last game, they improved on their perimeter defense as Middle Tennessee shot just 26.9% from long range (7-of-26) ... UA has been solid in steals and turnover margin as they rank third in the league in both categories with a 10.17 spg mark and a +1.83 margin ... SR G Ashley Whisonant has led the team in scoring in three games this season, averaging 16.2 ppg to rank fourth in the Pac-10.

The Sun Devils, who picked up a 78-60 win over 2007 NCAA Tournament team Gonzaga, have faced three Top-25 opponents this season ... GRAD G Jill Noe scored a season-best 16 points in both of ASU's contests over the weekend ... She also added a season-best four steals against the Bulldogs Friday night ... Noe was named to Verizon Wireless ASU Classic All-Tournament Team after making 65% of her shots for the weekend (13-of-20), including 5-of-10 (.500) from three-point range ... Because of another injury in the lineup (SR G Reagan Pariseau), Noe was forced to play a career-high 37 minutes on Sunday ... In the loss to Auburn, Noe became the 18th player in Sun Devil history to score 1,000 career points and also tied former Sun Devil Molly Tuter for No. 5 on the school's all-time list for three-point field goals made (116).
Last Week: W, LMU (75-54); W, Saint Mary's (77-61); W, Vanderbilt (67-59)
This Week: @ Princeton (12/8)
California won three games last week to improve to 7-1 in the Conference, which ties the Bears for first place with Stanford ... Despite playing without last year's Pac-10 Player of the Year, JR F/C Devanei Hampton, California has been steady inside with the dominant play of JR F/C Ashley Walker, along with the improvement of SO F/C Rama N'diaye ... The duo accounted for 98 points and 63 rebounds through three games last week, which was 45% of the scoring production and 46% of the rebounding production ... Defensively, Cal is hard to beat as the team is holding opponents to 35.8% from the floor, which stands as the second-best mark in the Pac-10 ... Walker and N'diaye rank 1-2 in double-doubles this season with six and three, respectively ... The Bears have an important two-game stretch coming up as they head back east to face Princeton and nationally-ranked Rutgers.

The win over Long Beach State marked the second time this season that the Ducks have won by a margin of more than 21 points ... Similarly, in games decided by five points or less, UO is 1-1 ... Ten players scored for Oregon on Thursday, including three in double digits ... FR F Nicole Canepa led the team with 14 points in 22 minutes ... On Sunday, FR C Ellyce Ironmonger recorded her first career double-double as she scored 18 points and pulled down 14 rebounds, 10 of which were offensive ... The Fresno, Calif., native came just two points shy of her career-high by scoring 23 points in the team's first game, and she followed that up with 17 points in an OSU loss in the team's second game of the week ... Allen has four straight games with at least 14 points and five in six games this season, including a career-best 25 in the 2007-08 season opener ... Allen's 40 points over the past two games is her second-best two-game total career-wise, and is just two points shy of the 42 combined points she put up against UNLV and Southern Utah this season ... This Week: @ San Diego (12/8)
The Bruins did not have the week they would've liked, earning a 1-2 mark with a lone 79-52 win over Southern, but look for the team to rebound this weekend ... SR F Lindsey Pluimer had a strong week as she recorded her second double-double of the season scoring 11 points and grabbing 13 rebounds against Idaho State, while pacing the team with 19 points in the Southern win, and tying for the team lead with 15 points against Pepperdine ...
