Five Cardinal Players Earn Pac-10 Academic Honors
Dec. 5, 2007
Stanford, Calif. - Five Cardinal women's volleyball players were among those honored by the Pac-10 today when the conference announced its 2007 All-Academic Teams. Stanford's Franci Girard, Bryn Kehoe, Erin Waller, Jessica Fishburn and Cynthia Barboza were among the Honorable Mention selections. To be eligible for selection to an academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.
Barboza, a Science, Technology and Society major, headlined the Cardinal's 2007 selections. Barboza was honored as one of 18 Academic All-Americans last week, the seventh player in school history to earn the honor. Fishburn, a Human Biology major, was a Second Team pick last season, and followed with an Honorable Mention accolade this year. Girard (International Relations), Kehoe (Communication) and Waller (International Relations) were all recognized with Honorable Mention for the second straight year.
Stanford now has 39 all-time Academic All-Conference awards with seven three-time honorees.
