Dec. 5, 2007
Stanford, Calif. - Four Stanford players were honored when the American Volleyball Coaches Association announced its All-Region Teams today. Cardinal freshman Alix Klineman was named the Pacific Region Freshman of the Year, and Klineman, Bryn Kehoe, Cynthia Barboza and Foluke Akinradewo earned spots on the 12-player All-Region Team.
Klineman, the only freshman honoree in the Pacific Region, follows up her Pac-10 Freshman of the Year award with the Regional equivalent this week. Klineman leads the Cardinal with 4.17 kpg, and is one of the Pac-10's top players in both kills and points.
Kehoe earns her third consecutive All-Region honor, as the Cardinal setter earned Honorable Mention as a sophomore in 2005 and first-team honors as a junior last season. Kehoe led the Pac-10 in assists this year, and is currently second in the nation with 14.30 apg.
Barboza is now a two-time All-Region honoree, as she was one of four Stanford players selected to last year's 12-player team. The junior is one of Stanford's top offensive weapons with 4.03 kpg, chips in 3.31 dpg and is a one of the conference's top server with 31 aces on the year.
Akinradewo, the 2007 Pac-10 Player of the Year, earns her third consecutive All-Region honor. In 2005, she was named the Pacific Region Freshman of the Year and was a first-team selection last season. Akinradewo contributes 4.04 kpg for the Cardinal and leads the nation with a .498 hitting percentage.
With four 2007 selections, Stanford earned more spots on the Pacific Region Team than any other school. Eleven of the 12 Pacific Region selections were from the Pac-10 Conference.
