Asia Kaczor Named To AVCA All-Pacific Region Team

LOS ANGELES -- Senior All-American Asia Kaczor (Wroclaw, Poland/College of Southern Idaho) has been named to the 2007 AVCA All-Pacific Region Team as announced Wednesday. Kaczor earned the honor for the second year in a row while sophomore teammate Taylor Carico (Manhattan Beach/Mira Costa HS) received honorable mention recognition.
Kaczor has set three USC single-season records this year in kills (587), attempts (1,363) and points (670.0). She also has 38 service aces (0.33 sapg), 258 digs (2.24 dpg) and 78 blocks (0.68). She was named to the 2007 All-Pac-10 Conference Team for the second year in a row and has been named Pac-10 Player of the Week three times this season.
She set USC and Pac-10 Conference records with 44 kills and 100 attempts in a five-game win on Nov. 16 against No. 5 Washington at the Galen Center. On Oct. 29, she was named AVCA National Player of the Week after USC defeated No. 9 Cal and No. 3 Stanford at home after she recorded 52 kills in two matches with 28 kills coming against the Cardinal.
Currently, her 5.02 career kills-per game average is a school record (Jennifer Kessy is second with a 4.33 kpg) along with her 5.73 career points-per-game average (April Ross is second with a 4.53 ppg).
USC will play St. John's in semifinal action tomorrow at the Gainesville (Fla.) Regional with the winner to play Florida or Texas on Saturday. The winner of Saturday's regional final advances to the 2007 NCAA Women's Volleyball Championship next weekend in Sacramento, Calif.
