Men's Soccer Lands Eight on Pac-10 All-Academic Team

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Eight Washington men's soccer players were named to the Pac-10 All-Academic Team, conference commissioner Tom Hansen announced Thursday.

The Huskies matched Stanford for having the most selections to the Pac-10 All-Academic first-team as senior Kevin Forrest, sophomore Rylan Hawkins and sophomore Daniel Phelps earned top honors. Junior George John and redshirt-freshman Stephen Fung earned second-team acclaim, while senior Derek Crismier, sophomore Taylor Hoss and sophomore Adam Lang were named to the honorable mention team.

Forrest earned first-team Pac-10 All-Academic honors for the third time in his career. Forrest has a 3.45 cumulative grade point average and is majoring in business administration. It is the second career first-team honor for Hawkins who has a 3.93 grade point average and is majoring in computer engineering. Phelps earned his first career nod to the all-academic team.

Fung, who has a 3.44 grade point average and is a business major, earned academic honors for the first time in his career, while John, another business major with a 3.47 gpa, was selected to the team for the second-straight year.

Crismier, Hoss and Lang were all first-time honorees on the honorable mention team.

To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.
