Arizona State's Kirsten Thompson named U.S. Bank Pac-10 Women's Basketball Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.--Arizona State center Kirsten Thompson has been named the U.S. Bank Pac-10 Women's Basketball Player of the Week for Dec. 3-9, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
In a light week of competition for Pac-10 teams, Thompson had a perfect afternoon on Sunday as she led the Sun Devils to a 77-56 victory over UC Davis.
The junior, from Monroe, Wash., was 7-of-7 from the field and 2-of-2 from the free throw line as she scored a season-best 16 points against the Aggies. The Sun Devils used her 10 first half points to open up a 17-point lead they would never relinquish.
Thompson also added five rebounds and three assists in the victory, which moved Arizona State to 5-3 on the year.
The Sun Devils take a jaunt down south this week as they take on Texas Tech Thurs., Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. CT.
This is the first Player of the Week award of Thompson's career and the 30th all-time for the Sun Devils.
