CONFERENCE WEEKLY NOTES

PAC-10 PLAY ON THE HORIZON
Just two weeks of non-conference play remain before Pac-10 teams take to the floor to battle it out against each other for Conference bragging rights ... However, a plethora of important games remain on the schedule before Fri., Dec. 28 when Pac-10 play begins ... On Mon., Dec. 10, 11/12 CALIFORNIA faces 6/3 Rutgers in hopes of becoming the second Pac-10 team to defeat the Scarlet Knights this season ... Also on Mon., Dec. 10, USC faces Big Ten foe Michigan at 6 p.m. ET on the Big Ten Network ... On Sun., Dec. 16 a pair of Pac-10 games will be televised as 5/5 STANFORD hosts 10/10 Baylor and WASHINGTON takes on 19/18 Ohio State, both of which will be televised on Fox Sports Net.

INJURY REPORT
Once again, the Pac-10 has been plagued by injuries early in the season ... California JR F/C Devanei Hampton, the 2007 Pac-10 Player of the Year, was sidelined for the first eight games of the season, but played 12 minutes against Princeton on Sat., Dec. 8, scoring nine points ... Hampton is recovering from arthroscopic surgery on her right knee ... ARIZONA STATE has two of its top guards out with injuries right now in SR Reagan Pariseau and JR Danielle Orsillo ... Orsillo is expected to be out another couple of weeks with a bone bruise on her knee, while Pariseau is day-to-day with an ankle injury ... Stanford has lost two players for the year, both of whom have suffered torn ACLs ... SO G Melanie Murphy saw action in five games, while SO F Michelle Harrison played in one game in 2007-08 ... USC also has two players sitting out the entire season with torn ACLs, including RS FR G Jacki Gemelos and FR G Stefanie Gilbreath ... Washington SR G Dominique Banks is redshirting the season, along with FR F/C Mackenzie Argens, due to stress fractures and a torn ACL, respectively.

HOME COOKING
Six games on the schedule this week will be played at home, which should bode well for Pac-10 teams as they have amassed a 25-10 (.714) record through all games on their home floor this season ... California, Stanford and USC are all undefeated on their home courts thus far, while six other teams have only suffered one defeat in their own arenas.

RPI REPORT
The first issue of the women's basketball RPI report has indicated that four Pac-10 teams are ranked in the Top-25 ... According to Collegiate Basketball News, Stanford comes in at No. 3, followed by California at No. 19, USC at No. 23 and Arizona State rounding out the group at No. 25 ... Not only do the Women of Troy have one the strongest RPIs in the country, their strength of schedule is ranked as the 10th-best, as well ... At 4-3 through seven games played, USC's strength of schedule is listed as .6871, as their opponents have amassed a 40-19 overall record and an average RPI rank of six ... Stanford and Arizona State also have strong schedules as they are ranked at No. 13 and No. 14, respectively.

`TIS BETTER TO GIVE
ARIZONA SR G Ashley Whisonant knows a thing or two about giving, and not just during the holiday season ... Averaging an even six assists per game, Whisonant ranks first in the Pac-10 and 17th in the nation in assists, having amassed 48 on the season ... Her 10-dish effort against Portland on Nov. 16 stands as the Pac-10 individual season-high ... She has also handed out eight assists on two different occasions this season (Middle Tennessee on Nov. 25 and Northern Arizona on Dec. 6), which also ties her for the second-highest single-game individual total in 2007-08 ... Whisonant finished her junior campaign ranked eighth in the Conference in assists (3.61).
