California's Jerome Randle Named U.S. Bank Pac-10 Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - CALIFORNIA guard Jerome Randle has been named the U.S. Bank Pacific-10 Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for Dec. 24 - 30, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Randle, a sophomore from Chicago, Ill., led the Golden Bears to the title of their own tournament, the Golden Bear Classic, by averaging 23 points in a pair of victories. He scored 20 points as Cal defeated Long Beach State, 102-65. Randle shot 6-of-10 from the field, including 5-of-7 from three-point range, dished out four assists and picked up four steals as the Bears set a school record with 16 three-pointers. In the 86-72 win over North Dakota State in the championship game, Randle scored 19 of his career-high 26 points in the second half. He shot 7-of-12 from the field, 4-of-6 from three-point range, added three rebounds and three assists.
For the week, he shot 13-of-22 (.591) from the field, 9-of-13 (.692) from three-point range, 11-of-12 (.917) from the free throw line, averaged 3.5 assists and 2.0 steals, and was named the Golden Bear Classic MVP.
This is the first weekly honor for Randle and Arizona State's 37th Player of the Week all-time.
