The Bruins posted a 70-65 win at home on Feb. 7, 2007 on the strength of Darren Collison's 17 points. Arron Afflalo added 16 while Luc Richard Mbah a Moute turned in a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Nick Young scored a game-high 20 points. USC also got double figures from its other two starting guards, Gabe Pruitt (16) and Lodrick Stewart (13).
CASHING IN ON THE FREEBIES
Through the first six games of the 2007-08 season, the UCLA Bruins were atrocious from the free-throw line, shooting 64.9 percent (98-of-151), ranking ninth in the Pac-10. Only two players were shooting higher than 75.0 percent from the charity stripe. In the last 11 games, the Bruins have been superb, shooting above 75.0 percent from the line as a team in 10-of-11 games while sinking 81.2 percent (168-of-207) during that span. UCLA, which has moved up to fifth in the league at 74.3 percent (266-of-358) on the year, now has five players shooting 75.0 percent or higher from the charity stripe.
LEXUS GAUNTLET UPDATE
UCLA trails 25-10 in the 2007-08 Lexus Gauntlet challenge, the cross-town all-sports competition with USC. Saturday's men's basketball game is worth five points. An additional five points is also up for grabs on Saturday when the UCLA women's basketball team faces USC at the Galen Center. It takes 57.5 points to clinch the Lexus Gauntlet. In the six years of the Lexus Gauntlet competition, the rival schools have alternated winning the trophy. USC won the inaugural trophy in 2002, then in 2004 and again in 2006. UCLA captured the rivalry's crown jewel in 2003, 2005 and 2007. The Lexus Gauntlet is presented by the Southern California Lexus Dealers, the leading sponsors of both UCLA and USC athletic departments as well as the exclusive title sponsor of every USC-UCLA athletic competition.
SHIPP SCORES 1,000TH POINT
Josh Shipp became the 47th player in UCLA history to score 1,000 points in a career at California (Jan. 5, 2008). Shipp now has 1,023 career points.

WHAT'S WITH THE 'C'?
Several Bruin teams will be wearing special jerseys or patches in 2007-08 to commemorate UCLA being the First to 100 NCAA Championships. The men's basketball team will don the new jerseys that have a different-colored 'C' in UCLA. The 'C' signifies the Roman numeral for 100.
