WSU Swimming Continues Competition at Long Beach

LONG BEACH, Calif. - In the second day of competition at the Long Beach Grand Prix Sunday, the Washington State swim team was led by the 800 freestyle relay. Freshmen Rugile Mileisyte, Talor Whitaker and Sierra Burton and sophomore Shawna Keller swam the event in 7:32.70 for a second place finish.
Junior Elyse Peterson also finished second in the B final of the 200 breaststroke in 2:17.22 with Keller finishing fifth in the same heat in 2:19.49.
Mileisyte finished third in the B Final of the 50 freestyle in 23.73, and Whitaker finished fourth in the B consolation heat in 24.29.
Cougars volunteer assistant coach Erin McCleave finished fifth in the B final of the 200 freestyle in 1:51.70 after swimming the distance in 1:50.83 in the preliminaries.
The Cougars will wrap up competition Monday.
