No. 42 Stanford Heads To Oklahoma To Take On No. 23 Tulsa And No. 2 Georgia

TULSA, Okla. - The Stanford Men's Tennis team will be heading to the University of Tulsa this weekend to take on two nationally-ranked opponents in two dual matches. Stanford will first face the No. 23 Tulsa Hurricanes on Friday at 3 p.m. PT, then on Saturday will meet the No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs at 12:30 p.m PT.
The Cardinal will look to get their first team win of the spring season after participating in the Sherwood Cup in southern California last weekend. Tulsa has already played three dual meets, while Georgia, like Stanford, will be playing their first two dual matches of the spring.
Stanford currently has four nationally-ranked singles players in No. 2 Alex Clayton, No. 41 Ted Kelly, No. 75 Richard Wire, and No. 96 Matt Bruch. Last weekend, the doubles pair of Ted Kelly and Blake Muller made it to the doubles finals of the Sherwood Cup, but lost a close match to Baylor's Atilla Bucko and Denes Lukacs, 9-7.
The University of Tulsa's men's tennis team defeated Arkansas-Little Rock 6-1 in the opening match of the their 2008 spring season. Tulsa also defeated Lamar 7-0 and No. 39 California 4-3. Tulsa has two ranked doubles pairs in the No. 16 duo of junior Arnau Brugues and senior Ricardo Soriano and the No. 5 ranked team of senior Andy Connelly and junior Ross Cunningham. Soriano is also ranked No. 44 in singles.
Georgia is coming into the weekend after participating in the SEC Indoors in New Orleans last weekend where senior Luis Flores topped a field of 32 to win the singles championship. The Bulldogs are also anchored by two nationally-ranked singles players, No. 17-T Nate Schnugg and No. 67 Jamie Hunt, as well as the No. 46 doubles team of Hunt and Christian Vitulli.
