No. 3 Stanford Takes Down No. 17 Arizona State, 184-110

Stanford, Calif. - No. 3 Stanford (3-1, 2-0 Pac-10) returned to the pool on a rainy Friday at the Avery Aquatic Center after nearly two months out of action and rolled to a 184-110 victory over No. 17 Arizona State (9-3, 4-2 Pac-10). Julia Smit (200 back, 200 fly), Elizabeth Durot (200 free, 500 free) and Meg Hostage (1-meter diving, 3-meter diving) won two events each as Stanford took 12 of the meet's 16 events. Elizabeth Smith provided the biggest individual highlight of the meet when she recorded the lone NCAA `A' qualifying time in her 200 breast victory with a mark of 2:13.55.

Stanford returns to the pool Saturday (12 pm, PT) to host No. 4 Arizona, who headed into a meet at No. 5 California on Friday with an 8-0 overall mark and a 4-0 Pac-10 record. The Wildcats edged Stanford for first place at the Texas Invitational early this season during the three-day meet in Austin last November 29 - December 1.
