Stanford Falls 7-0 to No. 2 Georgia in Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. - No. 43 Stanford closed out a tough road trip with a 7-0 loss to No. 2 Georgia this afternoon in Tulsa. The Cardinal, which fell to 0-2 on the season, will return home Friday, hosting UCLA on Friday and USC on Saturday in The Cashin Company presents: Stanford Challenge.

The Bulldogs won the doubles point in decisive fashion, capturing two matches 8-1 and 8-4, but Stanford refused to go down without a fight in singles action.

In the No. 1 singles match, No. 96 Matt Bruch took the nation's fourth-ranked player, Travis Helgeson, to three sets, but came up just short in his upset bid, falling 10-8 in the tiebreaker.

No. 2 Alex Clayton returned to action this weekend, but was upset by 17th-ranked Nate Schnugg in two sets, losing 6-4, 6-3. No. 75 Richard Wire took 67th-ranked to a 13th game in the first set, but would lose the tiebreaker 7-6 (7) and the following set 6-1.
