Cal Falls to No. 19 Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz. -
The California women's gymnastics team lost to 19th-ranked Arizona, 194.650-190.425, Friday night at the McKale Center. The Golden Bears fell to 2-3 overall and 0-3 in the Pac-10, while the Wildcats improved to 3-2 and 1-2 in the conference.
Freshman Avery Gee posted Cal's top score of the night, a 9.825 on floor, tying for second. Senior Siobhan Luce finished third on bars with her mark of 9.750, while junior Jessica Kelley took fifth in that event with a mark of 9.700. Cal's other high score came from junior Bridgette Glass who posted a 9.750 on beam, placing third.
Luce ended the night with an all-around score of 38.475, while sophomore Sophia Hocini finished with a 36.950.
Arizona's Karin Wurm took top honors all-around with a 39.175. Wurm won bars with a 9.875 to help her take first on the all-around.
The Bears return to Berkeley next week for the 2008 Pink Meet against Oregon State Sunday, Feb. 10, at 2 p.m. at Haas Pavilion.
