#5 California Downs #14 UCLA In Pac-10 Swim & Dive Action

The 5th-ranked California Golden Bears defeated No. 14 UCLA by a score of 170-130 in Pac-10 dual meet swim and dive action on Saturday afternoon. It was the second straight day that the Bruins had faced one of the top five teams in the country.
Samaniego, who was first on 1M and third on 3M against Stanford on Friday, recovered with two wins on Saturday as she won both the one meter (273.08) and three meter (309.45) boards.
Teo, who has won every 100 breast and all but one 200 breast competition in every dual meet this season doubled up again as she finished first in the four-lap (1:02.19) and eight-lap (2:14.99) events on Saturday. On the weekend, she had four individual event wins.
Poteete tied for first in the 50 free (23.15) for the second consecutive day, and Bibb tallied a victory in the 500 free in a time of 4:51.19. Poteete also swam a lifetime-best in the 200 free (1:48.79), while Bibb had a season-best swim of 1:48.32.
In three meter diving action, junior Brittany Hill also had a big day as she posted a lifetime-best score of 260.10 to take third-place in the meet.
Also posting season-best swims during the meet were - freshman Sam Vanden Berge, 1650 free (16:50.19); sophomore Julie Imagane, 1650 free (16:58.15); senior Chiemi Yamamoto, 100 breast (1:06.54)/400 IM (4:23.42); senior Katherine Wong, 100 free (52.72); senior Shannon Hackett, 100 fly (57.62); and freshman Carly Lyons, 100 fly (57.88).
Next up for UCLA will be the final competition of the regular season, a dual meet with crosstown rival USC. The meet will be held at UCLA (diving at Sunset Rec/swimming at Men's Gym Pool) on Friday, February 15th at noon.
