California's Ryan Anderson Named U.S. Bank Pac-10 Men's Basketball Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - CALIFORNIA forward Ryan Anderson has been named the U.S. Bank Pacific-10 Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 28 - Feb. 3, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

Anderson, a sophomore from El Dorado Hills, Calif., helped Cal to two road victories over No. 9 Washington State and Washington. In Cal's first win over a Top 10 team on the road since 1995, Anderson shot 9-for-13 (.692) from the field and 5-for-7 (.714) from the three-point range against the Cougars. He also added nine rebounds and two assists in addition to scoring a total of 27 points. Against the Huskies, he shot 11-for-19 (.579) FGs and 4-for-7 (.571) 3FGs. Anderson scored a total of 33 points, making this his fourth 30-point game of the year and setting a school record for career points by a sophomore, now with 983 points. In addition, his 17 rebounds tied his career high as Cal went on to beat Washington, 79-75.

In the games last week, Anderson averaged 30.0 points and 13.0 rebounds per game. He also shot 62.5 percent (20-for-32) from the field, 64.3 percent (9-for-14) from three-point range, and 100.0 percent from the free throw line (11-for-11).

This is the second weekly honor for Anderson and California's 38th Player of the Week all-time.
