Washington's Evan Bernier and Arizona's Lacey Nymeyer Named Pac-10 Swimmers of the Month

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - WASHINGTON's men's swimmer Evan Bernier and ARIZONA's women's swimmer Lacey Nymeyer have been named Pac-10 Swimmers of the Month for January, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Bernier, a junior from Seattle, Wash., won a total of 11 individual events and helped the Huskies to four relay event victories. On Jan. 25, Bernier helped the UW men upset No. 20 USC as he won the 100 free and the 200 free. Against UC Davis, Bernier won the 50 free with a time of 20.84, which was a UW season-best time and No. 5 all-time. Against Seattle, Bernier swam two Washington Top-10 times, winning the 100 back (49.93) and the 100 fly (49.12).
This is the first monthly honor for Bernier and Washington's first men's Swimmer of the Month honor all-time.
Nymeyer, a senior from Tucson, Ariz., placed first in every race she swam in for the month of January. She swam the 200 free in all three meets and her best time was 1:47.3 against Stanford. She also swam the 500 free and recorded her best time against California with a 4:49.
This is the first monthly honor for Nymeyer and Arizona's second women's Swimmer of the Month honor all-time.
