Alissa Haber Named An ESPN.com Preseason All-American
Feb. 7, 2008
Stanford, Calif. - Stanford's Alissa Haber was listed among the nation's 12 most promising players for 2008, when the ESPN.com Preseason All-America Team was released earlier this week. The Cardinal sophomore was the youngest player to earn a spot on the first team, and one of five representatives of the Pac-10.
Haber, who was also a member of USA Softball's Top-50 Player of the Year Watch List, earned third-team All-America honors last year after leading Stanford in nearly every offensive category. She was the only true freshman to earn first or second team all-conference honors in the Pac-10, hitting .365 overall and .391 in league play.
Haber was the youngest player to earn a spot on this year's preseason first team, as the only sophomore on the 12-player roster.
Pac-10 players nabbed all three outfield spots on the first team, with Haber, Arizona State's Kaitlin Cochran and UCLA's Krista Colburn being named the nation's top three outfielders. Pitchers Taryne Mowatt of Arizona and Katie Burkhart of Arizona State rounded out the Pac-10 selections.
Stanford begins its season tomorrow, taking on the San Diego Toreros as part of the University of San Diego Tournament.
