Sun Devils Hit the Road to Face Southern Mississippi and Auburn
Feb. 8, 2008
After a 7-0 sweep over San Diego State, the Arizona State Men's Tennis Team hits the road this weekend to face Southner Mississippi and Auburn in Auburn, Ala.
This is the Sun Devils and the Golden Eagles first match-up. The Sun Devils are 8-3 against the Auburn Tigers. The Sun Devils last faced Auburn in 2006, when they beat the Tigers 4-3.
The Sun Devils travel to the Midwest next week to take on Marquette and Northwestern.
The Sun Devils season-openers against Gonzaga and NAU were postponed due to rain. The Sun Devils swept San Diego State 7-0, winning six singles matches and two of the three doubles matches to earn the point.
To Be the Best...
As always, the Sun Devils will play one of the toughest schedules in the country, possibly the toughest in program history this year, combining a strong non-conference slate with the always powerful Pac-10 Conference schedule.
At The Helm
Coach Lou Belken enters his 26th season at the helm of the Sun Devil program, the sixth longest tenure of any head coach at ASU. In his 25 seasons, Belken has led his team to 18 berths in the tournament. This year he threatens to top the 300 wins mark as he enters the season with 297 career wins.
