Blue Team Tied for Sixth before Darkness Falls

The UCLA men's golf Blue Team was tied for sixth place after the first round of the Cougar Invitational, hosted by Cal State San Marcos at San Luis Rey Downs in Bonsall, CA.

The Bruins posted a team score of 304 (+16) and trailed first round leader Fresno State by 10 strokes. Cal State East Bay was second at 297 (+9), followed by Point Loma and CSU San Marcos in a tie for third at 300 (+12). Redlands was tied with UCLA in sixth place.

The second round was postponed due to darkness and it will be completed Tuesday morning followed by the final round. It was not immediately known how the Bruins stood during round two.

Junior Erik Flores was tied for fourth place after the first round with a score of even par 72. Senior Brandon Christianson and junior James Lee were tied for 29th at 77 (+5) and freshman Connor Driscoll and sophomore Ben Choe were tied for 42nd at 78 (+6).

Fresno State's Grant Doverspike was the first round leader at two-under par 70.
