Cowgill Earns Academic Recognition

PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State University men's basketball senior Robbie Cowgill has been named to the ESPN The Magazine District VIII All-Academic First Team as voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

A native of Austin, Texas, Cowgill has a 3.36 grade point average in management of operations and will graduate this spring from the Honors College. On the court, he is averaging 7.1 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.0 blocked shot per game.

This is the second-consecutive year Cowgill has been honored by CoSIDA after earning all-academic district second team honors last season. He is also a two-time Pacific-10 All-Academic First Team honoree. Cowgill is now eligible for a chance to become a CoSIDA Academic All-American, as voting will begin Tuesday, Feb. 12. The last Cougar Academic All-American was Carlos Daniel who was named to the third team in both 1997 and 1998.
