UCLA Baseball Picked Third in Pac-10 Preseason Coaches' Poll

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - UCLA has been selected third in the Pac-10 Conference's preseason baseball coaches' poll, the conference announced Tuesday. The Bruins were picked to finish behind Arizona and Arizona State, respectively.
Arizona was tabbed to finish first and earned 61 total points, including six of nine possible first-place votes. Arizona State, the 2007 Pac-10 Champion, received 56 total points and three first-place votes.
UCLA, which finished third in the conference last spring, received 51 points. Oregon State, the 2006 and 2007 NCAA Champion, was picked to finish fourth in the conference and captured 44 points. Bay Area rivals California and Stanford followed, totaling 32 and 30 points, respectively.
USC, Washington State and Washington rounded out the Pac-10 preseason coaches' poll, respectively.
UCLA, ranked No. 1 by Baseball America, opens its season with a three-game series at home against Oklahoma beginning Friday, Feb. 22. Game time is 6 p.m.
