Bruins Win the Regional Challenge

The top-ranked UCLA women's golf team won the Regional Challenge Wednesday at the Palos Verdes Golf Club in Palos Verdes, Calif.
In the final round, UCLA surged past second round leader USC and won its third tournament of the season by five shots. The Bruins posted a team score of 289 (+5) for a 54-hole record of 876 (+24). Florida captured second place at 883 (+31), followed by USC at 887 (+33). Arizona State took fourth place at 889 (+37) and Stanford was fifth at 900 (+48).
The victory was the Bruins second in this event since 2004.
UCLA freshman Glory Yang tied for second place at three-over par 216 following a final round of 72 (+1). Yang and five other players missed the top of the podium by one shot as Wake Forest's Natalie Sheary won with a score of 215 (+2). Junior Tiffany Joh tied for seventh place at 218 (+5) after 72 (+1). Two Bruins finished at 221 (+8) and tied for 10th place - freshman Maria Jose Uribe and sophomore Sydnee Michaels. Michaels posted a score of 72 (+1) and Uribe carded a score of 73 (+2). Junior Ryann O'Toole tied for 45th at 233 (+20). Competing as individuals were junior Maiya Tanaka and sophomore Lalita Boonnoppornkul. Tanaka tied for 57th and Boonnoppornkul tied for 81st.
