No. 8 Bruins Take Perfect Record Into USTA/ITA National Team Indoors
The UCLA men's tennis team (5-0) earned a No. 8 seed in this week's USTA/ITA National Team Indoor Championships in Seattle, Wash., and will take on ninth-ranked Notre Dame (6-1) this Friday at 11:00 a.m. The tournament, hosted at the University of Washington's Nordstrom Tennis Center, features 13 teams ranked in the top 25 of the latest ITA Team Rankings. Live stats and results from the tournament can be accessed by going to www.itatennis.com

UCLA's History at the Indoors
UCLA has captured seven titles at the Team Indoors (1984, 1991, 1993, 1996, 1997, 1999 and 2001) in the 33-year history of the event. The Bruins' seven championships rank second only to Stanford which has won 12. The Bruins have enjoyed tremendous success in the four previous times that the event has been held in Washington, winning two titles and finishing as the runner-up once.

Last Year at the Team Indoors
UCLA was seeded third at last year's Team Indoors hosted in Chicago by the University of Illinois. The Bruins opened up the event with a 4-1 victory over No. 14 Miami in the round of 16. UCLA followed that up with a 4-2 win over No. 6 Illinois in the quarterfinals. UCLA's run came to an end in the semifinals, however, as the Bruins dropped a 4-2 decision to No. 2 Ohio State.

Bruins Down San Diego, Boise State
UCLA is coming off a pair of non-conference home wins last week at the Los Angeles Tennis Center. The Bruins began the week with a 6-1 victory over San Diego. The Toreros' lone win came at No. 1 singles, where Thomas Liversage downed Harel Srugo, 3-6, 7-6(5), (12-10). UCLA was perfect two days later, downing No. 27 Boise State, 7-0.

UCLA in the ITA Rankings
UCLA checks in at No. 8 in the latest ITA Rankings released on Feb. 12. Individually, senior Mathieu Dehaine is ranked No. 32 in singles. He is followed by Haythem Abid at No. 38. New team and individual rankings will be released again next Tuesday.

Bruins Looking for Fifth Straight Pac-10 Championship
UCLA has won the last four Pac-10 titles and is looking for its fifth in a row in 2008. After earning co-championship honors from 2004-06, the Bruins won the title outright last year by defeating USC, 4-3 in the final match of the regular season. Unfortunately UCLA's two wins over Stanford and Cal last week do not count in the Pac-10 standings, as only the second meeting between two conference teams in a season counts towards league play. The two exceptions for UCLA are matches against Washington and Oregon, as the Bruins only meet those teams once every year. UCLA kicks off Pac-10 play at Washington on March 28.

Fans unable to attend any match at the Los Angeles Tennis Center can follow the action live at UCLA's official website: www.uclabruins.com. The live stats can be accessed either by going to the men's tennis schedule or by clicking on the 'Live Stats' icon located on the main men's tennis page.

Martin Begins 15th Season
UCLA head coach Billy Martin is in his 15th season at the helm of the Bruin tennis program. Martin, the only active head coach to capture team titles as both a player and a coach, owns a 327-63 overall coaching record. In his 14 seasons, Martin has never had a team finish out of the top 5 at the NCAA Championships. He led UCLA to the school's 16th NCAA Championship in men's tennis back in 2005.
