SCOUTING GEORGIA: Knocking off the Bulldogs is something only one team has done in the past three years, so the Huskies clearly have a monumental task. Dating back to the 2006 season, Georgia is 66-1 in its last 67 matches. They lost in the 2006 NCAA Championship match, then finished 32-0 last season to win the NCAA Championships, and are 4-0 to begin this season, with strong wins over Stanford and Tulsa. The Bulldogs captured the 2007 ITA National Men's Team Indoor Championships, defeating Ohio State last year in Chicago, then kept on winning until they swept Illinois, 4-0, in the NCAA Championship match. Senior Travis Helgeson leads the Bulldogs. Helgeson is ranked fourth overall in singles, and won the ITA All-American Championships in the fall, the first of college tennis' three 'majors'. Sophomore Nate Schnugg is also enjoying a breakout season and is currently ranked 17th, while sophomore Jamie Hunt is ranked 67th. In doubles, Hunt and sophomore Christian Vitulli are ranked 46th, although Hunt and Schnugg are projected to team together at No. 1 doubles for Georgia. Despite the odds being in Georgia's favor, the Huskies can look to their last meeting with the Bulldogs for inspiration. When Washington hosted the National Team Indoors in 2001, the Huskies upset fourth-ranked Georgia in the first round, 4-3. Georgia went on to win the NCAA Championship that same season.

THE FIELD: The ITA National Team Indoor Championships bring out the very best in college tennis. Each of the current Top-10 teams based on the current ITA Rankings will be on hand, and all 16 teams fall within the Top-40. Furthermore, seven of the eight NCAA Quarterfinalists from 2007 are on hand. Ordered by their current ITA ranking, the competing teams include: No. 1 Virginia, No. 2 Georgia, No. 3 Ohio State, No. 4 Baylor, No. 5 Mississippi, No. 6 USC, No. 7 Texas, No. 8 UCLA, No. 9 Notre Dame, No. 10 Alabama, No. 11 Illinois, No. 13 North Carolina, No. 21 Oklahoma State, No. 35 Boise State, and No. 38 Penn State, with the Huskies rounding out the field. There will be four matches at each venue from Friday through Sunday, with the final on Monday at the Nordstrom Tennis Center.

THE VENUES: Matches will take place at two different locations. The Lloyd Nordstrom Tennis Center is located on the Washington campus, just north of Husky Football Stadium.

The Seattle Tennis Club is located at 922 McGilvera, Blvd., just over three miles from campus. Take the Montlake Blvd. exit off Highway 520, and go through the University of Washington Arboretum (Lake Washington Blvd.). Turn left on Madison and turn right onto McGilvra. The club is on the left side of the street.
