TEMPE - The No. 15/16 (NFCA/ESPN.com) Washington Husky softball team split two more games at the Kajikawa Classic on Saturday morning, losing 3-2 to Oklahoma State before defeating Southern Utah, 8-0, in five innings. The Huskies are now 2-2 at the Kajikawa and are 4-3-1 on the season.

Washington dropped a heartbreaker to Oklahoma State in their first game of the day as they had the tying runner thrown out at home to end the game.

Trailing 3-1 with two outs in the top of the seventh inning, the Huskies had Marnie Koziol at second and Amanda Fleischman on third with Alicia Blake batting. Blake sent a hard hit ball back up the middle that plated Fleischman easily. Koziol came around to score from second and appeared to slide in safely at home, but the home plate umpire called her out on the throw from Cowgirls centerfielder Breana Casaus, and Oklahoma State escaped with the win.

After Oklahoma State took a 2-0 lead on a two-run home run by catcher Ashley Boyd in the bottom of the second, the Huskies responded with a single run in the top of the fourth on a solo home run by Lauren Greer, her second of the season.

The Cowgirls added what proved to be the winning run on a solo home run by right fielder Kim Kaye in the bottom of the sixth.

Washington managed 10 hits off of Cowgirls starter Sarah Odom, but left eight runners on base. Amanda Fleischman led the Huskies with a 3-for-3 effort and also scored a run.

Blake finished the game 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, while Marnie Koziol, Morgan Stuart, Jace Williams and Greer all went 1-for-3.

Aleah Macon (1-2) pitched all six innings for the UW, allowing three earns runs on six hits. She walked three and struck out five.

The Huskies rebounded to defeat Southern Utah, 8-0, in a game that was halted with Washington still batting in the bottom of the fifth due to the eight-run rule. Washington had seven hits and capitalized on four Thunderbirds errors in the game.

Williams, a freshman making her third start of the year at third base, had a two-run home run in the Huskies five-run second inning, as Washington strung together four hits in the inning.

Bailey Stenson finished the game 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI and a stolen base, and Ashlyn Watson was 2-for-3 and scored a run for the UW. Fleischman went 1-for-2 with two runs scored, an RBI and a stolen base in the game.

Caitlin Noble went the distance for Washington, giving up four hits and a walk while striking out six to improve to 3-1 on the season.

Washington finishes out the three-day tournament with an 8 a.m. PT game against No. 3 Texas A&M tomorrow.
