TUCSON, Ariz. - Freshman Anya Alvarez shot a final round score of 5-over 76 to lead the Washington women's golf team on the last day of the Arizona Wildcat Invitational at Arizona National Golf Club, Wednesday.
Alvarez tallied the best round of the day for UW and ended up as the Huskies' top finisher, tying for 40th overall at 18-over 231. As a team, the Huskies shot a final-round score of 38-over 322 to finish 15th on the team leaderboard (91-over 943).
The stacked field that featured seven of the Top-10 teams in the nation dealt with strong desert winds for the second day in a row, causing an influx of high scores. Oklahoma State won the team title by two shots over USC and Duke. OSU finished with a 54-hole score of 32-over 884.
