Hello Dawg Fans! The team is now back in Seattle after a 3-1 finish in New Mexico. The weekend was tough because we had a shortage of players and a lot of people playing multiple positions throughout the games. To give an example, Amanda Fleischman played right field, third base, and eventually moved over to shortstop. That is what is awesome about this year's team; we have so many players able to play different positions and will unselfishly do so. Overall the weekend was productive and despite some injuries we were able to come away with three solid wins. As a team we grew from playing under some sticky situations like high winds, rain outs, and coming back to win two games after a hard loss.
This week has been awesome getting to practice and play in the Seattle sunshine. Today we had a fun time at practice getting to take BP on the field with music on and in short sleeves! We are all hoping it will stick around for our home tournament this weekend. Everyone is absolutely ecstatic to be back in Husky Softball Stadium. We are so fortunate to have such amazing facilities and fans and we like to show it off to other teams around the nation.
Looking at our opponents for the weekend, we play Portland State, Alabama, and Nevada. We played all three of these teams last year so we have some idea of how we want to approach them. Alabama comes into this weekend ranked #1 in the nation so this is a great opportunity to try and get a big time win in our preseason record. Hopefully we can repeat the awesome attendance record that we had at the Alabama Super Regional games last year. Hope to see you at a game this weekend, Go Dawgs!
