Cougars Complete Second Day

LONG BEACH, Calif. - Freshman Rugile Mileisyte led the Cougars Thursday with a finals appearance in the second day of the Pacific-10 Championships.

Mileisyte tied for seventh in the B Consolation final of the 50 freestyle with a time of 23.39. Her time of 23.32 in the preliminaries of the event put her in second on the Cougars all-time top-10 list.

Mileisyte also led off the seventh place 200 freestyle relay that finished in 1:33.65. Fellow freshman Talor Whitaker and Sierra Burton as well as junior Elyse Peterson rounded out the relay squad.

Whitaker just missed qualifying for the finals in the 200 IM, finishing 28th in a time of 2:03.80. Senior Lina Daugvilaite also finished just short of the finals in the 500 freestyle, placing 26th in a time of 4:57.97.

The Cougars now have 127.5 points and will resume competition Friday.
