Andrew Improves Two More of Her School Records

The Sun Devils continued to have a successful week at the women's Pac-10 Championships. Caitlin Andrew broke two more of her school records in day three of the Pac-10 Championships. The senior All-American placed second in the 100 fly by completely annihilating her previous ASU record. Andrew set the new standard at 51.68. Andrew drastically improved on her 100 back record. She swam a time of 52.83 as the lead-off of the 400 medley relay. Both of Andrew's new records are NCAA automatic qualifying times.
The Sun Devils also earned an NCAA qualifying time in the 400 medley relay. The team of Andrew, Lindsey Russenberger, Ashton Aubry and Jen Beckberger qualified for the NCAA Championships with a time of 3:37.84. This time puts the relay team at second on ASU's all-time list. ASU's 400 medley relay placed fifth overall.
In the 200 free, senior Lindsey Brown is now the fourth fastest Sun Devil. The senior clocked in an NCAA consideration time of 1:47.86 to place third in the 'A' consolation final. Earlier in the day, Beckberger swam in a time trial in the 200 free. The junior had a career-best time of 1:46.33 to put her name at second on ASU's all-time list. Beckberger's time was also the morning's fastest.
Lindsey Russenberger put herself at sixth on ASU's all-time list in the 100 breast. The senior earned an NCAA consideration time of 1:02.56 to place fourth in the 'A' consolation final. Sara McDaniel touched in at 1:03.52 to win the 'B' consolation final. Ilene Lesch and Ashley Evans also competed in the 'B' consolation final coming in at 1:04.59 respectively.
In the 400 IM, Jamie Martinez swam ASU's ninth fastest time. She placed third in the 'B' consolation with an NCAA 'B' cut of 4:20.51. Martinez also competed in the 100 back. With an NCAA consideration time of 55.95, the sophomore placed fifth in the 'A' final.
With the diving results from today, the Sun Devils are currently in sixth place with 482.5 points. The Women's Swimming Pac-10 Championships conclude tomorrow.
