Kocsor Wins MPSF Indoor Weight Throw Crown

Junior Boldizsar Kocsor blew away the competition to win his first MPSF Indoor weight throw crown on day one of the conference meet in Seattle, WA. Kocsor out-distanced his nearest competitor by over seven feet, tossing an NCAA qualifier of 69-9.50.
Washington leads the meet after five events scored with 31 points. Arizona State is close behind with 29 points, followed by Washington St. (25), Oregon (23), Cal State Northridge (17) and UCLA (16).
The distance medley relay team also put on a strong performance as they improved their NCAA qualifying time by nearly five seconds to place third overall. The team of Marlon Patterson, Elijah Wells, Cory Primm and Laef Barnes were just one second shy of the NCAA auto time with their run of 9:35.02. That time ranks amongst the top-10 in the nation this season.
Stan Griffin tallied two lifetime-bests on Friday as he finished 10th in the 200m (21.86) and tied for 16th in the 60m (6.99). In the 5000m, Drew Shackleton led the way with his 11th-place run of 14:26.35. Kyle Shackleton was 16th (14:41.24) with Alex Crabill close behind in 18th-place (14:43.10).
Matt Reuter, competing in his first indoor heptathlon, tallied a score of 2,812 points. He was second in the high jump with a clearance of 6-6 (785 points), sixth in the long jump (21-4.25/700 points), sixth in the 60m (7.28/785 points) and ninth in the shot put (35-10.75/542 points).
