UW and Portland State Suspended in Second Inning Due to Rain

SEATTLE - The second game of the Husky Softball Classic on Friday afternoon featuring No. 25 Washington and Portland State was stopped in the bottom of the second inning due to rain. The game will be resumed at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
The Huskies had a 4-0 lead and had runners on first and second with just one out when the game was stopped.
Alicia Blake put the Huskies up early with a two-run home run over the right field fence in the first inning. Washington tacked on two more runs in the second inning on a two-RBI single by Jace Williams that scored Alyson McWherter and Amanda Fleischman. McWherter had singled to lead of the inning, while Fleischman had walked, and both were moved up one base on an infield single by Marnie Koziol.
In the first game of the day, No. 1 Alabama downed Portland State, 8-2.
The schedule will remain the same for tomorrow, with PSU and Nevada playing at 9 a.m., followed by Nevada and Alabama at 11:30 a.m. Washington takes on Alabama in the final game of the day at 2 p.m.
On Sunday, PSU and Nevada will play at 9 a.m., with Washington and Nevada facing off at 11 a.m. The game that was suspended today will start at 1 p.m..If there is enough daylight following the conclusion of that game, the Huskies and PSU will try and play their regularly scheduled game that was set for 2 p.m.
