Jirges Highlights Bruin Women On Final Day Of MPSF Indoor Championships

Junior Lauren Jirges ran two lifetime-bests on Saturday to highlight the Bruin women's track and field team at the MPSF Indoor Championships in Seattle, WA. Jirges first ran a lifetime-best in the mile to finish ninth in a time of 4:49.12, and then followed that up with another personal-best run as she ran 2:12.17 to win heat one and place sixth overall in the 800m.
Jirges wasn't the only one having a career day as four other women ran personal-best times during the meet. Freshman Shannon Murakami ran a lifetime-best in both the mile (4:54.55) and 800m (2:15.10) to finish 11th and 12th, respectively. Sophomore Krishna Curry (2:12.53) and junior Gabrielle Bournes (2:13.09) also had top runs to place ninth and 12th, respectively.
With pole vaulters and runners in only the 800m and mile, the Bruins placed ninth as a team with 14.50 points. Arizona State won the meet with 154.50 points, followed by Stanford in second (141) and Oregon (72).
