Sun Devils Blow Past Lions 6-1

The Sun Devils kept their record unblemished as the Arizona State men's tennis team shut down the Loyola Marymount Lions 6-1. The Sun Devils are now 7-0 on the season with two of their athletes holding perfect singles records in dual match play.
Starting off with doubles, the team of T.J. Bellama and Matt Brooklyn handed Sam Tadevosian and Jacek Twarowski an 8-4 loss. Andres Arango and Harry Skinner easily blew past LMU's Renzo Maggi and Ivan Lopez with an 8-2 victory. The team of Wes Miller and John Nanosky II battled off Johan Berhof and Nick Von Der Ahe to win 8-6 in the No. 3 spot.
In singles, sophomore sensation Matt Brooklyn kept his record perfect by sweeping past Twarowski in two sets, winning 6-0, 6-2. Playing in the number two spot, Arango earned a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Lopez while Juan Carlos Rebaza defeated Tadevosian 6-3, 6-2.
At the bottom half of the singles lineup, Miller earned a 6-1 6-1 victory over Maggi in the number four position. Nanosky remained undefeated in dual singles with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Aris Andreasian. Skinner had to retire early in his match to give Berhof the win.
The Sun Devils host Stanford and California in their Pac-10 opener next week. The Sun Devils ended up on top the last time these two teams were in Tempe. Friday's match against Cal begins at 1:30 p.m. while the Sun Devils take the court against the Cardinal at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
