Petey Paramore Named to Johnny Bench Award Watch List

March 3, 2008

TEMPE, Ariz. - Arizona State University junior catcher and team captain Petey Paramore has been named to the Johnny Bench Award Watch List. This is the third straight season that Paramore has been on the watch list. The Coleman Company, along with AT&T and Papa John's Pizza give the award annually to the nation's top collegiate catcher.

Paramore (Allen, Texas) is a two-time First Team All-Pac-10 performer and was named First Team Academic All-Pac-10 last year. He hit .379 with six homers and 52 RBI a season ago, leading the Pac-10 with 53 walks.

Paramore is one of 36 catchers from 22 conferences nominated and is one of only two catchers from the Pac-10. Former ASU catcher Tuffy Gosewisch was a semi-finalist for the award in both 2004 and 2005.
