WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - STANFORD sophomore Rosey Neill has been named the Pac-10 Softball Player of the Week for Feb. 26-March 3, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

Neill, a Laguna Hills, Calif. native, paced the Cardinal with an offensive rampage this weekend, hitting .500 with 10 hits, two doubles, three home runs and a whopping 1.050 slugging pct.

Against Providence, her two-RBI single got the Cardinal rolling in the first inning and against St. Johns her three hits paced the team. Against Louisville, Neill's solo home run tied the game and started a slew of nine unanswered Stanford runs as it picked up a 13-5 victory.

The solo home run against Louisville also began a streak of three-straight games with a home run for Neill, including a three-run blast against Purdue that put the finishing touches on an impressive 6-0 Stanford victory.

Recording a hit in every Stanford game over the week, Neill's current six game hitting streak is the longest of any Cardinal this year. Neill drove in seven runs for the week on her ten hits and also scored five runs.

The Cardinal (20-2) kick off a 16-game home stand with seven games this week. They start early in the week hosting Boston College on Tues., March 4 at 2 p.m. and then will play Campbell, College of Charleston, Texas Tech and North Dakota State in the Stanford Classic, Thurs., March 6 through Sun., March 9.

This is the first career Player of the Week honor for Neill and the 34th all-time for the Cardinal.

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - UCLA freshman Donna Kerr has been named the Pac-10 Softball Pitcher of the Week for Feb. 26-March 4, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

Kerr, a San Diego, Calif. native, allowed only two hits in 15 scoreless innings last week, including her first career perfect game against Saint Peter's on Sunday. Kerr went 3-0 on the week with two complete game shutouts, striking out 21.

As the Bruins took part in the San Diego Classic, Kerr started off the weekend allowing only one hit in six innings against the host Torreros, fanning a season high 11 batters in the Bruins' victory.

On Sunday against Saint Peter's, Kerr hurled the 16th perfect game in UCLA history, sending down all 15 batters she faced. The freshman struck out seven in the process of completing UCLA's first perfect game since 2003 and its first no-hitter since 2005.

Kerr improves to 8-1 on the season and has not allowed a run in 24 straight innings, leading the Bruins with a 0.64 ERA and four shutouts.

The Bruins (18-2), have jumped to No. 2 in the Today Poll and have six more games on tap next week, starting Wed., March 5 with a midweek matchup against UNLV at 1 p.m. UCLA then finishes up regular-season tournament play at the Long Beach State Invitational over the weekend. The Bruins take on No. 24/25 Virginia Tech and Notre Dame on Fri., March 7, Rutgers on Sat., March 8 and Northwestern and Long Beach State on Sun., March 9.

This is Kerr's first career Pitcher of the Week honor and the 102nd all-time for UCLA. Fellow Bruin pitcher Anjelica Selden took home the award last week.
