Stanford's Jason Dunford and USC's Rebecca Soni Named Pac-10 Swimmers of the Month

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - STANFORD's men's swimmer Jason Dunford and USC's women's swimmer Rebecca Soni have been named Pac-10 Swimmers of the Month for February, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Dunford, a junior from Nairobi, Kenya, won every event he swam in during the month of February. Dunford led the Cardinal to a 3-0 dual meet record for the month with wins over Cal State Bakersfield, USC, and California. Against CSUB, Dunford swam the 50 free with a time of 20.34. He also swam the 50 free versus the Golden Bears and improved his time to 19.98. Against USC, Dunford swam the fourth leg of the 400 medley relay (3:15.74) with a 45.15 split. In addition, he had a time of 43.65 in the 100 free.
This is the first monthly honor for Dunford and Stanford's fifth men's Swimmer of the Month honor all-time.
Soni, a junior from Plainsboro, N.J., was named Swimmer of the Meet at the Pac-10 Championship with two individual titles. Soni broke her own NCAA record in the 200 breast by almost one second winning with a time of 2:06.11. She also won the 100-yard breast with a time of 58.98. Soni will look to claim her third-consecutive NCAA title at 200 yards later this month.
This is the third monthly honor for Soni and USC's third women's Swimmer of the Month honor all-time.
