Junior Vanni Mangoni was fifth in the 400y IM (he finished fourth in the event at the NCAA Championships) while senior Bryce Elser finished sixth in the 100y fly ... USC has won at least two Pac-10 titles for 11 consecutive seasons (1997-2007) and has 211 individual conference crowns overall.
2008 PAC-10 DIVING CHAMPIONSHIPS
Freshman Steven Starks led USC at the 2008 Pac-10 Diving Championships held last week in Seattle. Starks was second on platform, seventh on 3-meter, eighth on 1-meter.
The USC men have broken three school records this season, all coming at the 2007 Husky Invite in December.
Gosper broke the USC record in the 50y free in 19.54, bettering USC's school record of 19.62 set by Sean Sussex last season. He later tied the school record in the 50m free in 23.21, matching Chris Jennings' 1995 effort.
Junior Ankur Poseria inked his name in the school record books with a 53.68 in the 100m fly, erasing Dave Cadermartori's 1987 mark of 54.15, which had been the oldest individual USC men's record.
Gosper's 19.54 is an NCAA automatic qualifying time, as is Elser's personal best 46.96 in the 100y fly. Trojans who own NCAA consideration times include Gosper in the 100y free (44.01), Mangoni in the 200y (1:47.21) and 400y IM (3:49.94) and the 200y breast (2:00.12), senior Brandon Lovell in the 100y fly (48.23), junior Ankur Poseria in the 100y fly (53.68 scm) and Elser in the 200y fly (1:47.48). USC also has `B' cuts in the 200y free relay, the 400y free relay and the 200y medley relay.
