Bears Secure Second at Sacramento State Quad Meet

SACRAMENTO - The California women's gymnastics team took second in the Sacramento State quad meet, Friday night. The Golden Bears (4-10) finished with a final score of 193.700, while Sacramento State took top honors with a mark of 195.250. UC Davis came in third, earning a mark of 192.625. Seattle Pacific finished in fourth with a score of 190.075.
The best event score of the day for the Bears came on bars and beam with a 48.800. The score on beam was also a season-high mark for that event. Freshman Nassim Mirreghabie led the way for Cal on beam, tallying a season-best 9.825, which was also the highest individual score of the night for Cal. She placed third in the event among all gymnasts. Also on beam, junior Bridgette Glass earned a 9.775, junior Jessica Kelley helped with a 9.750 and freshman Stefanie Cheng and senior Siobhan Luce each garnered a 9.725. Cheng's score was also a season best, surpassing her previous season-high mark of 9.350.
On bars, Glass and Kelley each notched a 9.800 to tie for second among all gymnasts. Luce contributed with a 9.775 and senior Nicki Wells earned a 9.750.
In the all-around, Luce finished third overall with a score of 38.975, while Kelley was second at 38.600 and sophomore Sophia Hocini was third with a final mark of 37.975. Sacramento State's Marina Borisova won the all-around with a score of 39.200. Luce's all-around score was also the best all-around mark of the season for the Bears and Kelley's ranked third. Kelley now owns the second and third best all-around scores of the season for Cal.
Luce posted scores of 9.7 or higher on all four events. She took fourth on vault with a 9.750 and tied for sixth with a 9.725 on floor.
Cal returns to Berkeley next Sunday for Senior Day when it hosts a quad meet against Cal State Fullerton, UC Davis and San Jose State at 2 p.m. at Haas Pavilion.
