Trojans Finish 5th At Pac-10s

Numerous Trojans posted season bests and NCAA qualifying times on the final day of the 2008 Pac-10 Men's Swimming Championships at Belmont Plaza in Long Beach, Calif., on Saturday (March 8).
Junior Vanni Mangoni, a day after winning the 400y IM title, was 12th in the 200y breast (1:59.40) while freshman Dillon Connolly was 13th (2:00.11). Both swam a bit faster in prelims, going 1:59.14 and 1:59.26, respectively. Each time were NCAA consideration marks, Connolly's time almost five seconds lower than his previous best this season.
Freshmen Kevin Little and Christopher Partin turned in season bests by large margins in the 1650y free, finishing 12th (15:53.67) and 13th (16:04.75), respectively.
Sophomore James Martin, coming off a season-best in the 400y IM on Friday, was 11th in the 200y back in a personal-best 1:46.75 (0.05 off of the NCAA consideration standard).
USC finished fifth overall. Stanford (865) won the team title and was followed by Cal (769), Arizona (748.5), ASU (371), USC (328) and Washington (246.5).
