UCLA Drops to Sixth after 36 Holes in Las Vegas

The third-ranked UCLA men's golf team fell to sixth place after the second round of the Southern Highlands Collegiate Saturday in Las Vegas.
The Bruins posted a team score of 297 (+9) and owned a 36-hole total of 585 (+9). They are staring up at first- place Georgia, which led the field at two-under par 874, second-place UNLV at 576 (E) and third-place Charlotte at 578 (+2). USC was fourth at 579 (+3) and Texas A&M was fifth at 584 (+8).
Individually for UCLA, junior Erik Flores remained in contention, firing his second subpar round, a one-under par 71. He was sixth at three-under par 141. Sophomore Jason Kang was tied for 20th at 147 after posting a 75 (+3). Senior Craig Leslie was tied for 23rd at 148 (+4) after signing for his second straight round of 74 (+2). Freshman Philip Francis carded a 77 (+5) and was tied for 27th at 149 (+5) and senior Kevin Chappell was tied for 57th at 155 (+11) after a 78 (+6).
Georgia's Hudson Swafford was the 36-hole leader after posting a score of 66 (-6) for a two-round total of 136 (-8).
