Bruins Tied for Fourth after Round One in Florida

The second-ranked UCLA women's golf team was tied for fourth place after the first day of competition at the UCF Challenge at RedTail Golf Course in Sorrento, Fla.
The Bruins posted a team score of 286 (-2) and were tied for fourth place with Oklahoma State. Both teams weren't far behind the leaders with first round pace setter USC leading after 18 holes with a score of 281 (-7). Top-ranked Duke was one stroke back at 282 (-6) followed by third-place Pepperdine at 285 (-3).
Individually for the Bruins, junior Tiffany Joh was tied for ninth place after posting an opening round 70 (-2). Joh was three-under par after recording her third back nine birdie, but she finished with a bogey at the 15th and three straight pars. Junior Ryan O'Toole, sophomore Sydnee Michaels and freshman Maria Jose Uribe were tied for 21st place at even par 72. Michaels birdied her final two holes to reach level par. Freshman Glory Yang was tied for 46th at two-over par 74.
Duke's Alison Whitaker took the first round lead with a 65 (-7).
