California Football Hosts Pro-Day at Memorial Stadium
March 11, 2008
BERKELEY - The University of California held its annual Pro Day on Tuesday at Memorial Stadium. Over 75 professional scouts attended the sessions, which included personality testing, measurements, weight-room testing, field exercises and positional drills. All 32 NFL teams were represented at the event. Twelve former Golden Bears participated in the activities, though each player selected which exercises he would attempt.
The 12 players in action Tuesday were: Thomas DeCoud, Brian De La Puente, Justin Forsett, Mike Gibson, Brandon Hampton, Lavelle Hawkins, DeSean Jackson, Robert Jordan, Andrew Larson, Matt Malele, Craig Stevens and Greg Van Hoesen.
DeCoud, Forsett, Gibson, Hawkins, Jackson, Larson and Stevens all participated in the NFL Combine in late February and primarily focused on positional drills.
Also in attendance was a pair of NFL Hall of Famers as Jerry Rice attended to support Jackson, who he has worked with since the season to prepare the wide receiver for the draft; and James Lofton attended as a representative of the Oakland Raiders. Kansas City Chiefs head coach Herm Edwards, a former Golden Bear standout who set the school record for interceptions in a game in 1974 in Memorial Stadium, also attended.
